When I began freelance writing, I had no idea where it would take me, how successful I would be, or if I would make any money. In the last two years, I have managed to stick with it, write over 225 articles, and even make some money on the side. My writing career has managed to stay on track, I have created two additional blogs, and have begun creating websites to create more income through affiliate marketing.
Not too bad. While I have had some discouraging times on this journey, I have also had some inspiration along the way. I get most of my inspiration from other writers. These writers include best-selling authors like Donald Miller and Bil Cornelius, and other bloggers, like Darren Rowse, and Leo Babauta, and many others. In addition to authors and bloggers, I have freelance writers who provide continually inspiration. One of those is Felicia, the author of No Job For Mom.
Felicia was one of the first people I “met” online over 2 years ago when I was considering freelance writing. She has a warm and personal feeling to her blog posts and a great deal of advice for freelance writers. She is honest and helpful to other freelance writers, which is refreshing. In the big world wide web, there are literally millions of blogs, thousands about making money online, and hundreds on making money through freelance writer. Felicia stands above many of these bloggers, and her readership can attest to that.
It seems like right about the time I am getting discouraged and feel there is no way I will ever make enough writing online to quit my day job, No Job For Mom (NJFM) comes along a writes a post that renews my hope. The other day I was trying to figure out which direction I wanted to take my online career. I was looking into a lot of different options. It is easy to start a Google search and end up in hundreds of directions, completely losing your original focus. It is especially easy for me with my “shiny object” syndrome.
Where was I?
Oh, yes, on that day, I came across the NJFM blog and read a great success story from Felicia. She managed to bring in $20,oo0 from her freelance writing. For some of you that are swayed by the “make-$10000-a-month-with-a-few-simple-clicks” syndrome, let me tell you, this is no small feat and quite an accomplishment.
Did she do this overnight? Did she do this with a few clicks of the mouse? Did she do this without any real effort or hard work?
The answer to all of those questions is NO.
If you are questioning where you are at with your writing or your blog, look at her post, and others who are successful. But, for every one NJFM, there are probably thousands of blogs that fail. Because they give up.
Because they don’t make $20,000 in a month.
Don’t fall under those blogs or freelance writers that fail. Work hard and go after what you want.
JUST BE PATIENT!
Let me tell you right now – you CAN make decent money online. You can make $2,000 a month OR MORE. This is true. But, it does take hard work, effort, dedication, and a lot of time. If you are willing to put in those things, you truly can have a successful online career.
Felicia did it and you can, too!
